Our Story
A Little About Us
Village Farm is a tiny, independent husband-and-wife business here in Lancashire. Although, if we’re being completely honest, it’s mostly the wife running the show!
I’m Julia, and long before Village Farm became a business, I spent around six years making candles simply because I loved it. I fell in love with discovering fragrances, experimenting with waxes and perfecting all those little details that make a candle feel special.
In April 2024, life changed dramatically when my husband Paul suffered a life-changing stroke, leaving him with difficulties with his coordination and sight. I wanted to find a way to care for him at home while building something positive for us both. So I left my job as an artisan, and Village Farm began to take shape.
Over the following eighteen months, I tested, experimented and searched for the right fragrance oils, wax and containers, determined to make something we’d be proud to share.
We started with a very sensible plan: just five fragrances. Five. No more. Absolutely not.
Well… 73 additional fragrances later, you can probably guess how that went!
A Tiny Business with a Big Love for Fragrance
What began as a small idea has blossomed into a genuine passion for discovering beautiful scents, whether they’re carefully and responsibly sourced or lovingly blended by us to create something a little different.
We’re not a big company with a factory full of machines or a boardroom full of executives. We’re just Paul and Julia, working from home, pouring our hearts into what we create and occasionally wondering where on earth we’re going to put the next fragrance delivery!
Hand-Poured with Heart
Today, Village Farm makes small-batch, hand-poured scented candles and botanical wax melts, shared with customers online and through the lovely independent retailers who stock our products.
Every candle is lovingly hand-poured, with care, pride and a little bit of our story in every jar.
For us, fragrance is so much more than a lovely smell. It can bring back forgotten memories, transport you somewhere special, create a comforting atmosphere or simply make an ordinary Tuesday feel a little more wonderful.
And that’s what we love sharing with you.
